Elementary school was a time period where I was not only in my early stage of playing videogames but additionally began exhibiting a want for learning Japanese as I noticed other elementary school students taking Japanese Immersion classes. What puzzled me was how other grade-school students got accepted for Japanese Immersion classes but not myself. Turns out the Special Education administration set me up for being denied any chance of joining Japanese Immersion classes in grade school.
By the time of college in Virginia, I took a Japanese class and then shortly dropped out. Granted I took Japanese class there shortly before discovering what career path to take. Looking back at this college experience, I’m reminded of the old saying, ‘If you don’t succeed the first time, try again’.
Having glued my eyes on the goal of videogame programming for Capcom, my pursuit of learning Japanese became stronger.
